THE NEW PLAYGROUND WILL BE INSTALLED ON FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 21st. YEAH!

THE NEXT PLAYGROUND MEETING WILL BE HELD ON MONDAY, OCTOBER 1st AT THE WAREHOUSE POINT LIBRARY AT 6:30 PM. EVERYONE IS INVITED!

The Town of East Windsor Playground Committee is pleased to announce the fundraising and final designs for the new playground equipment have been completed. The new playground equipment for the Broad Brook Elementary School will be installed during the month of September 2007. In addition to the rock wall and play web which we had installed in January of 2007, we have purchased a two sided playground sign, two new swing sets, a fitness center, monorail, playscape, benches, tables, tri level bars, parallel bars and more.

We are proud to say we were able to accomplish this fundraising task in just one year! We could not have completed this project without all of your support. I would like to thank our Public Works Department for providing the excavation of the site. Additionally, I would like to thank USA Hauling for their $15,000 donation and a huge thank you to Senator Gary LeBeau and State Representative Ted Grazianni for helping us obtain a $70,000 grant from the State of Connecticut.

Please come and enjoy our town’s new playground.

Sincerely,
Lynn Stanley
Chairman and Secretary of the Town of East Windsor Playground Committee

The new Rockwall and Playweb at the BBS!

The Town of East Windsor Playground Committee is a group of parents dedicated to improving the playgrounds at our local schools. The Chairman organized the committee in July of 2006, after the Broad Brook School was notified from Nickelodeon they had a winner of the “Let’s Just Play” contest.  The school would soon be awarded a $5,000 grant for playground activity/equipment. We realized $5,000 was not enough to renovate the playground. We decided to raise more money through grants, the town and state, local and national businesses, and private donations.

The Town of East Windsor Playground Committee consists of:

  • Lynn Stanley - Chairperson & Secretary (parent of two BBS children)
  • Christine Schwartz - Co-Chair (parent of a Middle School and BBS child)
  • Gilbert Hayes - Selectman
  • Gaily Anderson-Ho (parent of Middle School children and member of the PTO)
  • Kathy Bilodeau - (parent of two BBS children)
  • Stan Paleski -(parent of two BBS children)
  • Jim Thurz - (parent of two children one at the BBS)

Ultimately we needed to raise approximately $200,000 in order to renovate the playgrounds. We have met with Gametime, Landscape Structures, Miracle and Playworld Systems and have received playground designs and quotes.  We also painted the US Map, four square, hopscotch and other fun activities on the asphalt for the children.

Please join us in making the playground a reality for our children. Your tax-deductible contribution will be used to purchase new playground equipment and safety surfacing. Your generous donation will make a difference, we could possible start renovating as early as the spring of 2007.
